A new cosmetic oxygen treatment, Oxy-Mist developed by Sandra Hayman of biO2 Cosmeceuticals, improves post laser resurfacing healing time, minimizes pain and decreases the period of post-operative erythema. The Oxy-Mist system utilizes the principles of wound healing used on burn patients around the world. Patients are treated with a mixture of Amino-Plextm (a formula with over 100 ingredients. The most active being, amino acids, trace minerals, nucleotides, nucleosides, oligopeptides, deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), ribonucleic acid (RNA), electrolytes, glycosalmingoglycans and glycosphingolipids); Amino-Plex II, and Micellized Vitamin E (water soluble @.05 microns) using medical grade oxygen as the delivery source. Program protocol is easy and takes little time. The Oxy-Mist program is followed up with the home recovery program and the basic skin care after the skin is healed for maximum benefits. The ‘Basic’ skin care contains the Amino-Plextm.

Clinical studies conducted by Michael F. McGuire, M.D., Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon in Santa Monica, CA, Chief of Plastic Surgery at St. John’s Hospital (Santa Monica, CA.) and Associate Clinical Professor at UCLA concluded that the Oxy-Mist system significantly improved patient recovery time and results, reducing healing time from the usual 10-14 days to just 5-7 days, after an aggressive CO2 laser treatment (Coherent Ultra Pulse, 300 mj, density of 5, 50 watts, 3-5 passes). The study compared the most commonly used post laser protocols (open method with ointment, or wrapped method) on half of the patient’s face to the biO2 Cosmeceuticals program. Patients also noticed a visible difference on the side with the Oxy-Mist treatment, both with the healing time and quality. The program also has no known side effects. Patients will look healthier, and their skin will have a smoother texture than with just resurfacing alone.

“This new post resurfacing protocol will allow patients to return to normal activities within a week, and significantly reduce the time that camouflage cosmetics would be needed.” Explains Sandra Hayman, President, biO2 Cosmeceuticals. “This is a major breakthrough in the treatment of these patients, and opens up the possibility of many more people being able to benefit from laser resurfacing”. The Oxy-Mist system is used for ablative Laser Resurfacing. The state-of-the-art protocol is also effective for other post-laser treatments including hair removal, telangiectacias, pigmented lesions, as well as after dermabrasion, microdermabrasion and chemical peels.
