Garnet Announces First Patient Treated in Trial

Garnet BioTherapeutics, Inc. ("Garnet"), a regenerative medicine company focused on developing cell based therapies, today announced that the first patient has been treated in a Phase 2 multicenter, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of its lead product candidate GBT009 at Unity Hospital in Rochester, New York. GBT009 gives off a variety of pro-regenerative growth factors and cytokines which help repair damaged tissue and reduce inflammation, ultimately augmenting the body's ability to heal itself. The trial will assess the safety and efficacy of GBT009 for the treatment of incisional wounds following breast reconstruction surgery.

Patient's Guide Survey Reveals Attitudes toward Cosmetic Skincare Concerns

Almost three-quarters (74%) of American consumers surveyed would prefer a non-surgical procedure over liposuction even if it meant more treatments were needed. According to a survey commissioned by The Patient's Guide, a family of online publications dedicated to specific skin concerns and treatments, 48% of consumers are more interested in results when considering a body contouring procedure than cost (21%), safety (11%), length of recovery (10%), and surgery (10%).

STELARA™ and REMICADE® Data to be Presented

Data evaluating the efficacy and safety of STELARA™ (ustekinumab) and REMICADE® (infliximab) in patients with plaque psoriasis who had an inadequate response to Enbrel® (etanercept) will be presented at the 68th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) in Miami, Fla., from March 5-9, 2010. 28% of Physicians Referring Patients to Tanning Salons Are Dermatologists

An International Smart Tan Network survey of 6,881 indoor tanning clients conducted in January 2010 revealed that 11 percent of tanning clients say a doctor referred them to a tanning salon for therapeutic reasons and that 28 percent of those referring physicians were dermatologists. The survey shows that the recent press release from the American Academy of Dermatology in which the organization contended that "100 percent of dermatologists discourage tanning" is baseless.
